From 20 December 2004, Kakadu National Park will no longer
charge Park use fees. This honours a commitment made by the
Prime Minister in July 2004 that Kakadu entry fees would be
abolished by 1 January 2005.
Park Visitor Guides were provided when Park use fees were
paid upon entry to the Park. Park entry stations on the Arnhem
and Kakadu highways have now closed, however visitor guides
are now available from the following locations:
The Bark Hut Inn (Arnhem Highway)
Reception at the Aurora Kakadu Resort (South Alligator -
Arnhem Highway)
Bowali Visitor Centre (Kakadu Highway)
Wirnwirnmila Mary River Road House (Kakadu Highway)
Mary River Ranger Station (Kakadu Highway)
Some of Kakadu's camping areas have a camping fee, $5.40 AUD
(GST inclusive) per person, per night (adults over 16 years
of age). Camping fees can be paid at Bowali Visitor Centre and
the major park camping areas: Merl; Muirella Park; Mardugal;
Garnamarr and Gunlom. The campgrounds which require a payment
of a fee have solar showers, toilets and other amenities available
to campers.
